Word/Acronym Invention: CAH = Cute As Hell

After that last post about the tree sloth, I came up with the acronym CAH, meaning Cute As Hell! Here’s how to use it:

“Those tree sloth babies are CAH!” (Pron: Kah)

You could put a lot of emphasis on it by stressing out the “ahhhhhh”, meaning so cute you could cry!

“Look at the kitten hugging the baby tree sloth! Cahhhhh!”

Wanted: Baby Tree Sloth = (my new word) SLOTHIE!

I love tree sloths! Imagine having one as a pet and being constantly hugged! I am sure I would have to file the claws down. He could take a shower with me… it would be sooooo cute!

In the animal kingdom, baby cats are called kittens and baby dogs are puppies, so I am going to try to come up with a baby tree sloth name… How about “slothie”? Yeah, that’s cute.

Warning! Cuteness! šŸ™‚

slothie, slothies… what could be cuter than a slothie? It’s not a smoothie.. which is what I got when I looked for my new word on the internet. It’s a SLOTHIE! (trademark XackPhobe) šŸ™‚

This is too funny! Argyle Sweater Comic Strip

When I first saw the Argyle Sweater comic strip in… I think it was 2007, I was impressed enough to subscribe to the strip. I also saw the ghost of Gary Larson (The Far Side comics) in this guy’s strip. I wrote the author, Scott Hilburn, and told him how much I liked his work and that I thought that he could become the next Gary Larson and he wrote back and thanked me, saying that that was a very high compliment.

Today’s strip made me laugh out loud, so I thought I would share it…

Homeless Man With Great Radio Voice!

This is an example of the power of the internet:

This homeless man has an interesting sign-saying that he was given a great radio voice. This commuter rode past and saw this, so he filmed this guy doing an announcement. He interviewed him afterwards and the guy is educated and eloquent, but alcohol and drugs took him down and he states he is 2 years clean.

The amazing internet power is that after this video went viral, he has been offered a chance to get back on his feet by a company, who is providing their services, $1000 in donations (so far), a cell phone, a suit and a website!

Here’s the story:

And this reminds me of something totally stupid I did over the holidays. I was coming out of the grocery store and I saw a homeless woman dragging a cart filled with her personalĀ belongingsĀ about 20 feet, going back and getting another cart with her personal stuff and dragging it up to the other cart. She continued this a few times and I felt in a giving mood, so I pulled my car up to her and got out and asked if she needed some money. She said something and as I handed the dollar to her, she pulled back and said, “no, I don’t need it”. So, stunned, I put the money back in my pocket and said, “Happy Holidays” and got back in my car. Needless to say, I was embarrassed.

Vista RPC Server Unavailable Message Control Panel

One of my computers is running Windows Vista very happily when all of a sudden yesterday, when trying to access the Control Panel, I got a pop-up message that gave a code and said, “RPC Server Unavailable”. I couldn’t get into Control Panel. After searching the net for a solution, I found some, but none of them worked for me.

One person said that RPC was not listed when they went to services.msc. Mine was listed. Another said to find RPC in the services.msc and “start” it. The problem with that fix was that mine *was* started, and when I went into properties, I couldn’t stop it or even change it.

Eventually I gave up and restored my computer to a few days ago. That didn’t work, either. Hmm… Well, I had (luckily) madeĀ a backup of my machine right before the new year and tried that, since I knew that one was working. Ah-HAH!

As soon as my restored machine booted up, it wanted me to install an update:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows Vista x86 (KB982670)

I almost always install updates, and I remember installing that one. I think I found the culprit. The RPC Server unavailable message doesn’t come up now. I will hold off on installing that update to see if it was the problem.
