The Kids Are All Right-Movie Review 5 stars!

Halfway through this film, The Kids Are All Right, I realized that my cheeks were hurting. I was smiling almost the entire time. The story started getting heavy and I could relax my lips. This movie is about 2 lesbians who had children by the same sperm donor a few years apart. The kids are curious as teenagers about who their biological father is, so they seek him out and meet him.

The story takes a predictable twist, but it’s all extremely believeable plot. The acting is excellent.

I have to give this 5 stars!

Wonder Woman Cast

UPDATE:

Wonder Woman show passed on by NBC:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/comic-riffs/post/wonder-woman-snubbed-nbc-passes-on-picking-up-kelleys-superhero-series/2011/05/13/AFX6rB2G_blog.html

This is a double-edged sword. As is mentioned in the article above, the classic Lynda Carter Wonder Woman memory is left in tact. The bad part is that this will make it harder and harder to ever replace Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman as a TV show. What I don’t get is all these shows that have a following and a pilot could actually get their stuff produced if it is for the web, so why don’t they sell the pilot? I’d pay to see it! The cash they get will fund the next episode. The quicker they sell $1,000,000 hits, the quicker the next episode gets made. They already plunked the cash into the original episode… now let the fans decide if they want the show to continue!

Adrianne Palicki-The New Wonder Woman

Adrianne Palicki-The New Wonder Woman

I have never seen this actress before, so I am going to go into this with an open mind.

Adrianne Palicki has been cast as the new Wonder Woman. Please please please make this show amazing!

The article:

“NBC has found its new Wonder Woman in the form of Adrianne Palicki, of “Friday Night Lights.”

A rep for Palicki confirmed that the actress has been tapped to play the iconic, patriotic super-heroine.

Palicki will inherit the role from Lynda Carter, who played the part on “The New Adventures of Wonder Woman” from 1975-79.

In a statement announcing Palicki’s casting, Warner Bros. Television, which will be producing the series, noted that Palicki’s version of the superhero will be revamped from Carter’s potrayal, updated for the modern age.

“The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman — a/k/a Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life,” the statement reads.

The “Wonder Woman” pilot was written by David E. Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice“), who’s co-executive producing with Bill D’Elia. Jeffrey Reiner (“Friday Night Lights,” “The Event“) is directing.

This isn’t Palicki’s first go-round with superhero-related series; she also appeared in the WB pilot for “Aquaman,” as the evil Siren. She’ll also co-star in the upcoming remake of “Red Dawn.””

Lynda Carter As Wonder Woman

Lynda Carter As Wonder Woman

For all of you out there who aren’t extreme Wonder Woman fans, let me give you some backstory:

In the mid-70’s, someone came up with the idea of making a Wonder Woman live-actor television show. (You remember television?)  They made a pilot to shop the idea around and one of the three (yes, 3!) networks picked it up, but they wanted to change the actress playing WW. Luckily for us, Lynda Carter was available!

Lynda had actually won some beauty contest and was 70’s gorgeous! Blue eyes, black hair and curvy! She WAS Wonder Woman for several years on the show. The problem is, when you get that kind of fame, you will forever BE that character. Lynda’s first passion was singing, and she was always in the shadow of WW. Just like ever other famous person, she resented WW for “holding her back” instead of embracing it and making a living off of it.

By the way, I don’t know one single straight male or *any* females that watched that show… weird.

So, a few years back, they started talking about making a Wonder Woman movie. The fans were shaking like crack babies at the thought! Then the rest of the story came out. There were rumors that they wanted MARIAH CAREY as Wonder Woman and the fans puked and started an internet riot. They backed off of that rumor and then some site mentioned Halle Berry (sp?). No offense, but a black Wonder Woman? It wouldn’t be taken serious. More rioting.

What the fans wanted was LYNDA CARTER to come back and reprise the role. 30 YEARS LATER… yes, Lynda is still gorgeous and yes we all know it, but NO ONE else could BE Wonder Woman in the movie.

So, the studios seemed to cool to the idea of making a bomb.

So, flash forward to now. The studio wants to do Wonder Woman, but they want to shake our idea of Lynda Carter being the ONLY option. How would they do that? By creating a NEW TV show and planting the new actress in our minds.

I will watch the show, no doubt, and watch it with an open mind. Lynda Carter will always be MY Wonder Woman, but if they cast this right, it might be a great show!

So, my thoughts on casting- they need someone with the same look (black hair, blue eyes, curvy), not slutty. It would be great to cast an “unknown” like they did with Lynda (even though she was known elsewhere). If I had to pick a star, it would be the actress, Zooey Deschanel, from the Will Ferrell movie, elf.. the one that looks like Katy Perry. She was also in Bones, Weeds, The Happening, Simpsons, American Dad, and one of the funniest things I have stumbled across-Drunk History. Drunk History’s theme is, they video someone who is drunk relaying a piece of history. People (FAMOUS) act out the history tale as told by the drunk person. FUNNY STUFF! Here’s Zooey in one of those: (She’s at the end, playing Mary Todd Lincoln)

Now this picture shows her in what could be her Diana Prince (Wonder Woman’s alter ego) drag…

Zooey Deschanel - The NEW Wonder Woman??

Zooey Deschanel - The NEW Wonder Woman??

I Love You Phillip Morris-EXCELLENT!!! 5 stars!!!

I started watching this thinking, “ok, another gay themed movie-it’s going to be tragic and I really don’t want to see it.” But, I LOVE Jim Carrey and I REALLY love him in serious roles, so I gave it a shot. I didn’t know anything about the movie’s plot except that it was based on a true story.

Through the first 45 minutes, I waited for the ball to drop and loved the movie-even the sad parts, but I wanted to turn it off before the tragedy. The love story is completely realistic and the actors BOTH were extremely believable.

Then, the tragedy hit. It was extremely well done and made me weep, but then through the tears, there was a laugh out loud moment! GREAT ending!
