Remote Display for WM6-Non Touchscreen Version

A friend needed Remote Display for a Windows Mobile 6 phone (Motorola 9Qh) and when installing it, I had an issue. The phone stated that it wasn’t made for that phone. Undaunted, I copied the CERTDISPLAY executable file from another phone (~16KB) to this phone and voila! It started right up!

Download REMOTE DISPLAY:Remote Display

I included the certdisplay to copy to your phone, if needed.

If you don’t have a touchscreen phone, this site:

will tell you how to use the keyboard in remote display.

Record/Tape/CD Clubs

I ran across an article today on how Columbia House and BMG made money on those record clubs. (http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/91126) This brought back some great memories of getting the 11 free albums in the mail! (Remember, kids, you couldn’t always download music for free!) The interesting thing I learned in this article was that Columbia House wasn’t even paying for a license to make these records and tapes! They did pay a 75% royalty, but never a license. I do remember getting records that were scratched upon arrival, but thinking nothing of it. When I hear certain songs now, I expect that particular skip in the music. LOL It appears that they were making sub-par products. Defective tapes, thin records, etc.

So, essentially, we were being sold illegal copies of music from these record clubs! Now go back and think about how threatening they were to you at 12 years old-demanding their money-making phone calls, etc.!

The article states that even with all the free music and losing money on people like me who just wanted the inital shipment, they made millions of dollars a year!

Makes me feel a lot better about the $26 I “owed” them for shipping the initial selections! 🙂

Unpleasantville… Is this a real movie?

I was looking through the free music on amazon and found the music from the movie “Unpleasantville”. It’s free for the whole album, if you’d like some Harry Potter-esque music.

So I looked it up on IMDB.com, and found that it was a real movie, and it was supposedly released in early 2010. Amazon didn’t carry the movie, which is odd. My “usual source” for downloading movies didn’t come up with anything other than teen vampire crap. So after an exhausting (2 minute!) web search, I found the website for it:

http://unpleasantvillethemovie.com

The storyline looks like something off of Nickelodeon (Love it!) and the trailer looked like an online prank. It goes something like this: Monsters have had to move in to regular society’s neighborhoods. Chaos ensues. The end.

On the website, it says it’s available on DVD and looking at the comments for the youtube trailer(265 views!), it appears to be a short film. Kudos for this filmmaker, Colton Tran! You can buy the DVD for $8 through paypal, presumably directly from the director. If I order this, I will update with what it was like.

Mister Chase – Addicted – FREE!

I usually don’t like new music, especially from guys, but I happened to run across this FREE tune on Amazon.com. I have never heard of this guy before, but once I heard “you’re adic-dic-dic ted”, I was hooked! It’s typical current dancepop, but the guy’s “wet chorus” George Michael/Bon Jovi-esque voice makes this an interesting listen.

Here’s the link to Amazon to download it free:

Interesting Inventions-Keyless Car Door Lock Opener

I ran across this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/keyless-entry-door-lock-unlock-No-need-remote-key-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aab51a787QQitemZ320701835143QQptZCarQ5fAudioQ5fVideo#ht_2510wt_1149

Here’s how it works. After installing it, if you lock yourself out, you knock your pin number on your window and it will unlock the door. Let’s hope someone doesn’t ride by playing loud techno music!
